Free Information Technology Education to Be Provided to One Million Young People in Punjab

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, has made an announcement that one million young people will receive free online information technology training to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Re-Skills, a Malaysian company for students seeking information online, have agreed to the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which has now been signed. Young people are going to be provided with unpaid online information technology training according to the MOU. According to the statement made by the CM, the completion of these training courses will result in the creation of millions of prospects for self-employment. Young people between the ages of 16 and 30 will not be charged for the training that will be provided to them. It has been reported that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has made the decision to launch an Associate Degree (AD) programme that would last for a period of two years in order to address the scarcity of IT professionals in the country.
